Apparently, how the world works is that a group of people in each country come together and brainstorm ideas on how to make their country a better place for its citizens, what a whole load of rubbish. These people sit on their thrones and have their entire kingdom wrapped around its little finger. This is a world where power means everything, the more power you have, the higher in status you are and the more people who follow you.

It would be a bit of a stretch to say that Governments are like tyrants as they don’t have people slaving away at their feet. Government cover themselves in a shroud of righteousness saying that every decision made is for the good of the people and will ensure a better future. Imagine if that future involved society plunging into chaos, no real action from the Government will actually be taken just meaningless statements and empty promises. They say they make society better, apparently this involves extra funding towards armed forces to continue a war instead of the extra funding going towards actually helping people through medical care, education or even helping people through charities.

If they want to support armed forces they should simply send supplies to keep them going and focus on bringing them home and being more defensive, not sending more people and weapons giving enemies more reasons to fight back. Where does the money even come from, it comes from the people, they suck dry the very people they ensured they would aid. We pay for all essentials, medical, education, food, our homes and even our cars and all that money goes straight into their back pockets.

The way they see it is that they ensure order and if we want to carry on with our lives in their society then we must make a ‘small donation’. What kind of order do they even set up. Let me tell you what they did, they wrote down the law, all the rules for their society and that was that, no changes what so ever. They issue law enforcement to uphold these laws but that doesn’t stop the criminal network. They do not go in-depth with investigations which result in the crime system working underground, crime is everywhere and what do they do as a response add more laws that make no difference except annoy the public and detain and release caught criminals.

Justice is never delivered. These big wigs use their provided power to cut themselves out of the reality and do what they believe is right to shape it even though there is never any change, all that power and they do nothing with it. This is how the world is run but the world can do so much better with the right guidance.

Joe and Simon are chilling in their tent making final preparations and getting better acquainted with there new friend Richard who is introduced as someone who is not fond of mountaineering but still enjoys travelling, for example when they first met Richard it was in Lima. He would be looking after the rest of the stuff left behind at camp while the other two go up the mountain. During this time, the group shares their worries about the possible coming of unpredictable weather conditions to which they maintain high motivation. They set off on their impossible-to-be-made-possible task with Richard until they part ways where they tell Richard they should be back in 4-5 days and returns to camp and the remaining two settle in a snow cave ready for the next day.

The next day, the two begin to feel the ever decreasing air temperature of the mountain but never the less they began their trek and both of them were feeling the rush going through their bodies. They decided that in 6 hours they will slow down and look for a gully to dig a snow cave so they can rest up having already scaled 2000 feet. the time passed 15 hours, in this time they had encountered walls of ice that were not suitable to climb and ice started cracking and falling towards them. All the dangers so far the have overcome and they were rewarded with a cave to which they can rest up. Joe and Simon rested up and we are treated to a story where Joe was climbing with Ian Whittaker and how they trekked through the Chamonix Valley and how they almost plummeted to their deaths.

Simon shared his thoughts on the possibilities that they could reach the mountain’s summit by the end of the day to which Joe say that it couldn’t be done in the day but they remained fully confident that they can complete the task. They encountered trickier areas of ice so they choose to hold back and rest for a while and reflected and agreed upon the fact that they would not be able to reach the summit by the end of the day. They climbed further till they decided to dig another snow cave around 300 feet away from the summit, they checked the temperature to find out it is -40 degrees and Simon is worried he has frostbite in his fingers as he couldn’t feel them. They marched on to reach the summit the next day, they were overwhelmed but Joe couldn’t shake a strange feeling he had. Climbing a mountain is a challenge, climbing back down is a greater challenge, Joe and Simon faced this challenge as they encountered a whiteout (complete snow storm where only white is visible) and this caused Simon to slip and fall luckily Joe held on to him with the rope but he also almost fell when the ridge started collapsing beneath him. It was at this moment they Knew that they were gong to face an even greater challenge.

I wake to the rays of warmth cracking through the open shutters illuminating my face, exploring the emptiness of my home as everyone is enjoying the serenity the island offers, laying and getting coloured underneath the light of the world. Strolling down the silent path surrounded by the endless woodland, the scent of fresh buttery goodness spreads across the streets of the island attracting everyone and placing them in a state of trance. I continue to walk to the end of the path where it meets the vast plain of aquatic tranquillity, the blinding light of the sun glistens of the surface which hypnotises you into just jumping in. All pain is relieved and you are left alone with a stress free feeling. The fresh scent homemade barbecue contaminates the air of the town attracting all to a feast of the ages. A day like this is rewarded with a time to sit and meditate on your thoughts as you witness the sky burn a fiery orange as the sun fades over the aquatic horizon also leaving a trailed reflection on the water’s face. A true sight to behold every day.

The sky turns from its fiery orange to a deep blue to match the sea. Lights burn in the sky clearly visible illuminating the night sky. Crowds gather along the water’s edge to enjoy the endless festivities every night. Comrades reunite and new ones are formed as they rejoice over freshly caught and cooked sea foods and the sweets of beers. Music fill the streets only to be drowned out by the laughter and sing alongs. As for us younglings, we immerse our selves in the warm feeling from night swimming and show our enthusiasm in the form of competitiveness over are fair game of pool. We bid farewell to the night by retreating to our home where we say goodnight to our neighbours and lay, sleep and wait for the next day as we get to enjoy it all all over again.

Dylan Thomas’ poem and Hamlet can be seen as comparable as they both seem to focus around the theme of death, the scene in Hamlet i would want to focus on is Act1 Scene 5 where Hamlet is confront is father, Old Hamlet’s ghost. Thomas’ poem is his way of expressing himself and telling his own dying father to hold on and fight, you can tell it is his father as he say in the first line of the final stanza ‘And you, my father’ he is afraid to lose him as he repeats ‘do not go gentle into the night’. he tells him to keep fighting when he repeats ‘rage, rage, against the dying of the light’. Thomas focuses a lot on using the terms light and night and anything else related such as dark, day, sun etc. Hamlet’s father is already dead so he cannot give these words of encouragement, however his father requests from him to take revenge for his death. He excessively describes death and uses negative vocabulary such as ‘doom’d for a certain term to walk the night’ and ‘for the day confined to fast in fires’. This gives Hamlet insight for what death is like, which will eventually lead to the later soliloquy and he intends to take revenge on the one responsible for subjecting his father to the endless life (afterlife) of torment. Both Hamlet and Thomas seek to do right by their fathers whether it is to take revenge on someone or to stay by their side and help with their own fight, it seems pretty clear what makes these two the same yet still different.

‘On my first son’ and the ‘to be or not to be’ soliloquy from ‘hamlet’ share the focus of death. Hamlet talks of death when he debates whether or not he should take his own life. Ben Jonson talks of death when he speaks of the death of his son. One of the most noticeable similarities I noticed was when hamlet says ‘ who would bear the whips and scorns of time’ it is followed by a list of things that is wrong with society which indicates his feelings of how people are blessed to leave the cruel and difficult life. In the poem Ben states that he is happy that his son could escape the ‘rage world and flesh’. This would show the Ben also sees the world as cruel and difficult and that there is no wrong in leaving it.

Goodbye, my son that was by my side filled with joy

i had so much hope and love for you

I am left to make up the seven years I earned

fate has strucked on the grim day

should I maintain my fatherhood, or should I give into the grief.

to lose my life and escape the world and grimace. If not by artificial means than by natural aging

To live or to die that is the current situation

There it is more honourable to suffer in silence from all the misfortune

Or to take action and counter all the problems I face and lay them to rest

It would be good to lay rest now, no more heart ache, no more life effecting shocks. It would be a blessing to rest now and possibly dream.

What dreams can come to a man after death when all problems are left behind him

What if you never have to deal with these problems, the judgement, the abuse, the humiliation, the suffering, the heartbreak. What is wrong with ending everything right now and spare my future

I understand that people wish they to continue life as they fear the life after. A plain where men enter but do not return

To fear death would make men out to be filled with cowardice. We would neglect the action of our actions and think, which will then lead to our actions not being carried out

A love triangle comes into effect when Hamlet mourns the passing of his love in a graveyard, shortly before Laertes arrives and the two end up fighting over who loved her more, in her own grave. Later own, Hamlet reveals to Horatio that he knew that Claudius was sending him to England to be beheaded as he switched his letters for Claudius’ before his ship was attacked. The duel between Hamlet and Laertes is about to begin and while Claudius toast to the two he drops poison into Hamlet’s drink. The final bit of drama unfolds as during the fight, the Queen, Gertrude, drinks from Hamlet’s cup and dies from the poison. Laertes did damage to Hamlet with the poisoned blade but the swords get swapped and Laertes gets wounded by his own blade. As the Queen fell, Laertes came clean and announced that Claudius was behind everything. Hamlet, with the poison blade, drove it right through the King killing him. In their final moments, Laertes was granted with Hamlet’s forgiveness and then passes. Hamlet request Horatio to explain everything that happened, the poison overcomes him and he passes as well. All that was left was a heart broken Horatio. Fortinbras and his army, who were victorious against Poland, and English ambassadors have arrived. it is revealed the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern have also perished. Horatio explains the story of all the deaths and forever will he tell the story of the patriot that is Hamlet. Fortinbras is told that he is now to claim the throne and as one of his first acts as the newly appointed King he gave Hamlet a soldier’s ceremony.
